Influencing Bridgeport– Park City Harvest

Bijou Square asks: Where were you before you lived here?

Skye: Our headquarters were in Westport, CT

Bijou Square: What brought you here?

Skye: It made sense to come to Bridgeport and be closer to the Nourishing Neighborhoods programs we are running, as well as our Healthy Bridgeport Alliance partners.

Bijou Square: What do you do in Bridgeport?

Skye: We work on our Connecticut and national programs to propel our mission forward "to nourish neighborhoods by supporting increased production and access to healthy, fresh, and affordable locally grown food for the well-being of all."

Bijou Square: What’s one spot you could be in Bridgeport all day and why?

Skye: At our headquarters on State Street. Seriously. We really love our work. But with breaks for some great food– Two Boots Pizza, Tiago's, Amici Miei for sandwiches, salads and their white bean side dish, the beautiful Epernay Bistro, or Toppings for cupcakes, to name just a few!

Bijou Square: What do you think we’re missing here?

Skye: We are trying to improve healthy access to healthy, affordable, local food in some of the "food deserts" in Bridgeport neighborhoods.

This is a love story. Except it has no boy meets girl, no diamond rings, no sobbing at the end. Instead, it is about a devotion between a community and it's budding neighborhood. Our non-traditional bunch includes artists, musicians, eco-urban planners, lego-enthusiasts, gourmet chefs, librarians, and historians. To name a few. Realizing the potential in our surroundings, we are collaborating minds and skills to generate change. Replacing the negative undertone with positive energy. Bringing awareness to the fact that our city is a cultural hub. And, we intend to leave quite an impression on our small dot of the map. What we do is where we live. Where we live is Bridgeport. Won't you be our neighbor?
