Bijou Square asks: Where were you before you lived here?
Maddie: I grew up in Katonah, NY, and went to college in Allentown PA.
Jordan: I grew up in Somers, NY and then attended Loyola University where I played lacrosse.
Bijou Square: What brought you here?
Maddie: Craigslist! We randomly spotted our current home on there, randomly came for a walk through and instantly fell in love.
Jordan: The potential, the amount of space, the opportunity to have an impact on an up and coming city, and ... tax breaks!
Bijou Square: What do you do in Bridgeport?
Maddie: A variety of things and I love every piece of this puzzle so very much–
1) Our Bridgeport! Jordan and I developed a "Where to Eat Where to Drink Where to Play Where to Shop What to do", database for Bridgeportians! When we moved here we longed for a helpful guide of where to go and what to do... it was the only thing missing... and so we took it upon ourselves to create it for all of YOU! We keep you posted on dining, entertainment, arts, and local events. You can come on to rate restaurants, get information and give information. Follow us on twitter www.twitter.com/OurBridgeport and come hang with us on facebook http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Bridgeport-CT/OUR-BRIDGEPORT/246875995195?ref=ts!
2) OH MY GEMINI ! I share my random thoughts and stories via my blog, OHMYGEMINI http://www.ohmygemini.com... It's SO much fun and I love having a place to divulge my deep dark secrets, embarrassing stories, style concepts, decor obsessions, and silly (who says silly anymore?) pictures.
3) I build and also reconstruct vintage jewelry under the name LOVEMADDS http://www.LOVEMADDS.com. My pieces are mostly named after Buddhist terms, influenced by my theology studies, and most of my designs fall into the bohemian, charm-y category.
4) STYLE on Nicky Digital. I write a really fun style column on a New York Nightlife blog, Nicky Digital, http://www.nickydigital.com/index.php?/blog/C625/, where I dig up fun style concepts, designers, and specific garments, and share my take on them.
5) Just yesterday my friend Debra (who also happens to be my neighbor- go Bridgeport), and I, launched a wonderful new site called Lean And Chic http://www.LeanAndChic.com. She is Lean, the nutrition know it all, and I am Chic, the style gal. It's a fun and practical approach to a "style and health" Makeover.
6) I am Assistant to the most wonderful designer and artist, Jennifer Paganelli, creator of the Sis Boom Collection http://www.SisBoom.com ... aka fabric designer extraordinaire. If I'm not working from home via cyber space for Sis Boom, I am at her beautifully Sis Boom-ified home (picture the most colorful, cheerful, crafty, beautiful home), helping her with just about anything... all the while I am mentored through the vast and wonderful world of designing fabric. Ohhh I love it!
Jordan: I am Co-Owner of a web development company, http://www.SumoWebWorks.com. I also run http://www.OurBridgeport.com with Maddie, and http://www.LaxLessons.com
Bijou Square: What’s one spot you could be in Bridgeport all day and why?
Maddie: In our parking lot. It's where we see all of our neighbors come and go and it's where we have the most laughs catching up and spending time together.
Jordan: I think I could sit in Port Coffee house all day. It's quiet, clean, comfortable, tasty... and most importantly, they have free Wi-Fi.
Bijou Square: What do you think we’re missing here?
Maddie: A trolley
Jordan: Reliable taxi services– I can't tell you how many times we've called for a cab and been left stranded, or were totally overcharged.
