Bijou Square asks: Where were you before you lived here?
Nils: Berlin and Munich, Germany
Bijou Square: What brought you here?
Nils: Work– urban design and architecture
Bijou Square: What do you do here?
Nils and Matt: We formed Bridgeport Design Group in 1998 and work collaboratively on projects that enhance the quality of environments in which people live and work. We have been involved in projects ranging from product and furniture design to large urban redevelopments. Our work is currently focused on the redevelopment of under-utilized urban areas, and the planning and design of zero net-energy neighborhoods and buildings.
Bijou Square: What’s one spot you could be in Bridgeport all day and why?
Nils: In my loft on Knowlton Street, because I can see the Pequonnock River while I'm designing.
Bijou Square: What do you think we’re missing here?
Nils: Urban planning in general, the advantages that usually come with a Riverfront in the middle of a city.

Nils & Matt are working to save the old GE Remmington Arms building from demolition. It's a huge gorgeous chunk of Bridgeport's cultural history, like a big sexy woman, and should be preserved for posterity. Please support their actions!
