Influencing Bridgeport-Bridgeport Library

Bijou Square asks: Where were you before you lived here?

Scott: Trenton, NJ

Bijou Square: What brought you here?

Scott: The position I'm at currently as the Bridgeport City Librarian

Bijou Square: What do you do here in Bridgeport?

Scott: I live and work here. Our library is particularly focused on organizing events and opportunities for local kids, teens, and bringing the community together. We've done some cool murals in the past and hope to continue these types of activities. We have some great ideas in the works and are always open to people's suggestions. Along with amazing books we offer books on tape, books with cassettes, audiocassettes, CDs, videos, DVDs, CD-Roms, and much more.

Bijou Square: What’s one spot you could be in Bridgeport all day and why?

Scott: Port Coffeehouse!

Bijou Square: What do you think we're missing here?

Scott: We are missing out on a “green” eco-industrial park and port in Bridge-PORT. We have the deep port and plenty of real estate, but we’re not doing anything with it...

This is a love story. Except it has no boy meets girl, no diamond rings, no sobbing at the end. Instead, it is about a devotion between a community and it's budding neighborhood. Our non-traditional bunch includes artists, musicians, eco-urban planners, lego-enthusiasts, gourmet chefs, librarians, and historians. To name a few. Realizing the potential in our surroundings, we are collaborating minds and skills to generate change. Replacing the negative undertone with positive energy. Bringing awareness to the fact that our city is a cultural hub. And, we intend to leave quite an impression on our small dot of the map. What we do is where we live. Where we live is Bridgeport. Won't you be our neighbor?
