Bijou Square asks: Where were you before you lived here?
Phil: I was born in Bridgeport, grew up in Stratford, bought the first house of my own in Bridgeport, moved to Trumbull, then bought my present home in Bridgeport in 1992. I started my business here in 1972.
Bijou Square: What brought you here?
Phil: My parents moved here from Manhattan because my Dad got a job at GE just before I was born.
Bijou Square: What do you do in Bridgeport?
Phil: I am the owner of Kuchma Corporation. We have successfully completed numerous commercial, industrial, institutional and residential projects for many of the area's leading institutions and property owners. Our projects have ranged in size from small to large, from one day to many months, and have encompassed all levels of complexity. Most of my time working, playing, and sleeping is in Bridgeport.
Bijou Square: What’s one spot you could be in Bridgeport all day and why?
Phil: Downtown, because it holds such enormous possibilities, plus, if I want a short break, Seaside Park is just a few minutes away.
Bijou Square: What do you think we’re missing here?
Phil: There is a wide range of opportunity yet to be taken advantage of, but so many good things are happening, I feel it is inevitable that many things won’t be “missing” for long.

I too believe in Bridgeport. Born and raised here and continue to be a resident.. there is so much to enjoy about Bridgeport but people have to have the right attitude. I am very interested in Bijou square and am wondering if they will be rented to the disabled at all, or are they strictly purchased. Keep up the good work Mr. Kuchma I salute you
